About the Foundation
The Bartley family is committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of the Greater Whanganui Region through the Foundation's diverse array of local initiatives.
At the forefront of its efforts is Waka Hauora, the Mobile Health Bus. Launched in 2020 with the primary aim of enhancing healthcare accessibility across the region, this project has provided an extensive range of essential health services to the community.
Waka Hauora is used to facilitate services such as administering immunisations, conducting health screenings, delivering school-based health services, providing sexual health clinics and carrying out cancer screenings.
The foundation's mission extends far beyond healthcare alone. With a well-rounded approach firmly rooted in community empowerment, it endeavours to support the region in multifaceted ways. This includes fostering the development of essential life skills among youth, facilitating employment opportunities, and promoting positive mental health practices.
Robert Bartley's enduring legacy of community support, spanning his active involvement in sports, business, mentoring, and diverse community projects, serves as the foundation's guiding light. By continuing his legacy and giving back to the community he cherished, the Robert Bartley Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to enriching the lives of those it serves.
Waka Hauora, the Health Bus
The Waka Hauora/Health Bus was the Foundation’s first project. A collaboration with Te Whatu Ora Whanganui, the Health Bus was designed to deliver quality health services to the Greater Whanganui region, including immunisations, health checks, screening programmes, school-based health services and more.
The Waka Hauora/Health Bus is the perfect size for this, offering a private treatment room, a spacious hospital bed, room to store all the necessary supplies, a vaccine fridge, and a small waiting area.
